ConsignMen :: Grand Opening Ball

This past Thursday night, I was invited out by friend and menswear designer Quimari Majette, to the grand opening for ConsignMen. In the grand ballroom atop the gorgeous PE Lofts in Downtown Los Angeles, myself along with about 100 other invited guests enjoyed delicious catered food and an open bar as we viewed some of the best pieces the brand new store has to offer followed by a very heartwarming introduction to the company by owner Ryan Crowe. Great night! Great people!

Get Lucratif!

#TeamWin was in full effect this past Saturday night for a showing of our very own, designer Christina Valenzuela's collection, Lucratif Street! Keisa Sullivan (of KS Consulting, Inc) and I served at stylists for the night! Along with a showcase of brilliant head pieces by JNG Floral Designs, a very energetic audience at Vanguard in Hollywood cheered models on as they got a preview of the latest collection from Lucratif. Before we could even get the models back backstage, we were bombarded with inquiries from Vanguard's guests who wanted to know where they could get the pieces they'd just seen! We had SO much fun and I'm definitely looking forward to next #teamwin project to come!

From the company: A lot of people ask, “What does Lucratif Street mean?” Well both words are carefully defined and when they come together it creates Lucratif Street. Lucratif is a new way of spelling “lucrative” and if you don’t know what that means let me break it down. It means ‘money-making, highly profitable’. In the new spelling ‘abundant in all aspects, creatively determined to succeed, goal-breaking hustler’ can be added to that definition. Street. That part is simple. The place where you came from, your ‘hood, your block, your suburbs. Wherever and whatever you come from that has made you who you are today. Those obstacles put in your path that you climbed over. Together the words make “Lucratif Street”.

A place where the motto “Making Something Out Of Nothing” comes from. Get Lucratif.

During my trip to Atlanta a couple of weeks ago, my college roommate and producer Marcha, played one of the dopest mixtapes I've heard in a while! Imagine my surprise when I found out that the music I was zoning out so hard to was by an 18 year old white kid from Pittsburgh --- Mac Miller! K.I.D.S. features mostly all original music and only one guest appearance from fellow label mate Chevy Woods. Salute to Mac and Rostrum Records for this mixtape!

I'm always fascinated by triple threats. I firmly believe that God bestows each one of us with our own unique talents. And usually we're all really great at one thing, maybe even 2 if we're lucky. I first caught wind of triple threat artist Donald Glover when I became a fan of NBC's Community last season. I knew was an actor, writer and comedian...and this past summer I found out that he's also an extremely talented recording artist! I've been sitting on this mixtape for a minute and let me apologize in advance, but I guarantee you if you haven't already heard it, it's well worth the wait! Culdesac takes you on a journey of struggle, triumph, love and the chronicles of growing up a Black nerd (something I can totally relate too).
