My Cousin James

This holiday season has been so hectic. So many of my friends and family are home from out of town and I haven't been able to hang out with everyone like I want. Fortunately, I had a minute to stop by and see my cousin James. He and I are extremely competitive when it comes to fashion. He acknowledges that I'm a tad bit flyer than he is and I admit that he is merely one step behind me. One of the very few people I'd even dare to put in the same category as myself. Simply put, he makes me proud to call him fam!

James, who is a senior at my alma mater Morehouse College, just returned from a 10 day tour of Egypt. How baller is that shit? Anyway, I brought a couple of things over to show him that I had purchased earlier that day (5 novelty t-shirts I picked up from Steve & Barry's going out of business sale, 2 pair of glasses, and 2 bow ties). He approved, but little did I know he was about to completely kill me. He pulls out the pieces that he copped from Egypt. He has a collection of some of the most beautiful scarves I've seen in a while (including 2 Louis Vuitton scarves; one of which is pictured above). Needless to say I was so envious (but proud at the same time). But the ultimate KILLER was the GORGEOUS camel skin weekend bag you see pictured above and below. I think I sprouted one single tear.

Good show cuzzo!

My Christmas

*My dad, me, and my brothers Ryan and Josh

My Christmas was awesome! Nothing makes me happier than being with my family. No matter what the circumstance.

I went to my grandmother's house first to eat and spent time with my mother's side. Grama made gumbo and of course I ate so much it hurt. I spent the latter part of the afternoon arguing with my little brother. Some things never change. Later that night I went to my uncle's house to see my father's side of the family. Like every year we sang Christmas carols and exchanged gifts.

Good times...

As far as gifts go, I have so say that I was more than pleased with what I got cause I wasn't expecting anything and made out like a bandit.

I got:

beige leather weekend bag (urban outfitters).
$200 cash.
dark knight dvd.
amc movie tickets.
pacific theather movie tickets.
$25 wingstop gift card.
$25 subway gift card.
$10 jamba juice gift card.
$30 lids gift card.
$5 Starbuck's gift card (from Sontue).
royal blue and black buffalo check scarf.
homemade cookies from dad's girlfriend.

Random Holiday Ranting...

First of all I want to wish all of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS! I would do it tomorrow, but I'm a firm believer that the holidays should be spent with loved ones. I'll probably check my facebook or something, but no blogging for me.

This is the first time in years I've been in the holiday spirit. I don't know if it's the kids or the weather or what it is, but I've really been enjoying it all this year. I know I'm not getting anything really, but I still can't wait for tomorrow!

I need friends who are photographers!!! I really want some new photography for some things I have in the works. If you know anyone let me know!

Okay, let me just go ahead and say it. Seven Pounds sucked! Bad! I'm really getting sick of Hollywood hyping all these new movies up with these terrible plots. I'm not going to spend much time explaning why I am hated it.

Simply put: It was long, slow, pointless...and at the end of the film Will Smith's character offs himself by way of jellyfish and donates his eyes to a blind man. WTF??? I literally laughed out loud in the theather. Were they kidding me with that bullshit? I'm still doing my research, but I'm almost 100% sure that it's impossible to donate your eyes!

Booo Seven Pounds!

Dee & Ricky Bow Tie

Japanese artist Taskashi Murakami was spotted wearing a Dee & Ricky Bow Tie at GQ’s Japan event.

As you probably remember, Dee & Ricky Jackson are the 21 year old Black twin designers that make the Lego broches and belt buckles. They are also the creative force behind those bags made from old Starter jackets.

This new bow tie concept is very cool. Me likey!

Weekend Dreaming...

I had the most sinful lunch today (see photo above). I had a footlong tuna sandwich from Subway, sweet mauiu onion kettle chips, a diet Coke and healthy slice of red velvet cake. It was delicious! I feel a little bad because I've gained a significant amount of weight back - somewhere in the double digits - in the past 4 months. My shirts are fitting a little more snug than they used to so I got my ass back in the gym a couple of weeks ago out of fear of being nearly 300 lbs again. Since then I've lost about 6 lbs and I'm trying to stay on it. But corporate life and having so many eateries nearby make it a little tough. Especially on a lazy Friday like today. I'm not going to stress myself over it what's done is done...Damn that was good though! LoL! :-p

Before I went to the gym last night I did some thrifting at a couple of my favorite stores near my house. Shopping always gives me the motivation I need to workout as long and as hard as I possibly can. I cleaned up! For $65 I got 2 pair of jeans, 1 shawl neck sweater, 1 vintage Claiborne cardigan, 3 scarves, 1 bowtie, 3 woven plaid shirts, 1 denim shirt, 1 hoodie, 3 textured ties, and 1 perfectly destressed sweatshirt. It felt good too cause it's been weeks since I've been able to afford to do that. CLICK HERE to read my Guide to being a Successful Thrifter (previous post).

Having new (old) clothes always puts me in a great mood. This is going to a great weekend. I can feel it. Even though I have SO much shit to do.... Oh well, it won't be different from any other weekend.

OH YEAH! I've been forgetting to THANK everyone. My blog has received over 10,000 hits! Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you for reading. I love doing this and as long as you are willing to visit, I'll be writing and posting.

Have a fun-filled and blessed weekend people!

Above are some photos of my friend LaLa's son X. I dare someone to try and tell me that this little guy isn't flyer than most grown men you know. Look at this kid! He makes me so proud! Please check the scarf game...

In Other Superhero Movie News...

If you haven't yet heard, there's a rumor flying around online that Eddie Murphy has been tapped to play The Riddler in Christopher Nolan's third installment of the Dark Knight franchise (and not Johnny Depp as previously reported). I know what you're thinking, WTF, right? You know what, I'm not even going to question it. When I heard Heath Ledger was going to be playing The Joker a few years ago I thought it was ridiculous. Then, Ledger delivered one of the best performances of his career and of the character that I've ever seen. I will say though that Murphy has HUGE expectations. He's going to need to bring some real intensity to the role after following Ledger...

I'll keep you guys updated.

Shia LeBouf is also rumored to be playing Robin in the next flick. I don't really have much to say about this one. He's Hollywood's golden boy and an obivious choice. I like him. I think he can bring something new to the role. We shall see...
