My Thoughts :: Quantom of Solace

I know I'm late, but even though I had been anticipating the new James Bond flick 'Quantom of Solace' since I saw 'Casino Royale,' I just got the time and opportunity to go and see it yesterday. Quite simply put: I LOVED it!

This is not the type of movie where you scrutinize the plot or the actors' abilities. You just enjoy it for what it is - an action movie. You won't see it being nominated for any awards come Oscar season (although Lady Judi Dench did show her ass). Regardless it was still a fantastic film. The action sequences are on point and the plot was solid. What made the film even better, in my opinion, was the fact that 007 dawned Tom Ford suits and tuxedos all throughout the film. What could be more perfect than Bond in Tom Ford? Nothing. Unless you add an Aston Martin to the equation, which they did.

I get in a lot of heated debates about this next statement, but I believe Daniel Craig is the best Bond to date. Yes, this includes Sean Connery. Craig brings a different since of cool to the role. And the new Bond girl played by actress Olga Kurylenko has to be one of the baddest to ever partner up with James.

Getting to the point, I definitely recommend this movie. While I was watching I got the same feeling I used to get as a kid while watching Power Rangers. I think I secretly want to be a 00 for British Intelligence. *sigh* LoL!

Here is the thing. 007 isn't supposed to be an action movie. What about that movie said "James Bond"?

Sooooo this was the first bond movie I've seen since Die Another Day. While I can't say I loved it, I CAN say the visuals were RIDICULOUS. His perfectly tailored pleated tux? RIDICULOUS, the bad guy's sunglasses? RIDICULOUS. The black cowl neck cardigan and perfect fitting jeans...you already know what I'm "finna" say. I went to see this cuz someone asked me to go and I didn't have to pay, I had no real desire to see it but I enjoy James Bond and what he stands for so. Yeah. The ONLY thing about this movie that stuck out like a sore thumb was the Bond girl's first outfit. The mid-waist skirt, the tank top, the horrible sandals, and that outraheously out of place chunky gold necklace. I just couldn't get into her for the rest of the movie, I know she wasn't the typical sexy bond girl but, they could've done better. And the random redhead? While she gave me a meaaannn trench, I still was waiting for her to whip it off and be naked underneath or donning a bomb set of lingerie. No such luck. And her hair stylist? Yeeesh. The men's clothing in this film was the highlight, as a matter of a fact, X out the two chicks and do it up with an all male cast. except for M, she's the only one can stay. Last thing. The end's leather jacket?

I almost soiled myself.
