This is tragic...

VIA: Concrete Loop
Ervin Antonio Lupoe who had been recently let go from a Kaiser Permanente hospital in West Los Angeles, killed his wife, Ana, their five children: 8-year-old Brittney, 5-year-old twin girls Jaszmin and Jassely and 2-year-old twin boys Benjamin and Christian. He then took his own life after faxing a letter to KABC Channel 7 and calling the LAPD saying, “I just returned home, and my whole family has been shot.”

A suicide note found at the scene “indicated a business dispute” between Lupoe and Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. In the faxed note to KABC, Lupoe said he was despondent over an employment situation. Both he and his wife were former employees of the medical center. According to reports, there were grounds for termination that did not come as a result of layoffs. Lupoe and his wife then made a suicide pact: “So after a horrendous ordeal, my wife felt it better to end our lives, and why leave our children in someone’s else’s hands,” the note said.

I was talking to baby last night and she told me about the same story that I ended up reading on Concrete Loop this morning. This is one of the saddest things I've read in a while. An African American family so deeply distressed about their financial situation that they decide to take their own lives and the lives of their children. Has life really gotten this bad for Americans?

The main topic of discussion for the past 6 months has been the economy. While I know the reality of the situation, I've tried to cover my ears about all the hardships. I believe in God and my President Obama. I know it won't happen overnight, but I have faith that things will turn themselves around one day soon. My prayers go out to this family and all of yours as well. No matter how hard it gets, keep the faith and trust that God will bring you through it all...

Peace.

This makes me SO mad. How dare they kill their children? Everyone goes through financial hardships, just ask any new immigrant that had a PHD in his country, & is now waiting tables for minimum wage. This is so selfish.& weak. & sad.
As parents, you must protect your children, not decided that death will be better for them. Death should never be an option.
Those kids would have rather lived, been placed in foster care, than been reduced to cadavres by their own Mother & Father.
Ths is tragic.
But what's so DAMN tragic is how certain people are unfit to have children.

news is coming out that the parents falsified employment verification to qualify for subsidized childcare from crystal stairs. so, most likely they didn't have anymore childcare and kaiser is saying they were terminated because of their falsification of documents.

while working at crystal stairs, i conducted a lot of fraud investigations involving employment verifications and misuse of childcare services. some people were just lazy but some people sincerly really needed to get around the system so they could qualify for the services because of the cost and to make ends meet. it sounds as if this family, with 5 children, were trying to get around the system because childcare alone might have left them broke. there's no excuse for this man's actions. although he had no job or childcare, it's sad that he felt there was no way out.
